Welcome to New Sudan Generation!
The New Sudan Generation (NSG) was founded in San Francisco in 2000 by Mr. Silvestro Akara Bakhiet, a native of Southern Sudan. Formerly known as the Pageri Organization, New Sudan Generation operates as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization in California, so that donations to New Sudan Generation are tax-deductible to the full extent allowed by law.
Our Mission
The mission of New Sudan Generation is to assist people in the war-ravaged Southern Sudan as they work to recover from decades of war. Our goal is to help refugees and displaced persons in rebuilding their communities. With the recently-declared Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) now in effect, there is new hope for the future of Southern Sudan.
This site will furnish you with information about our
current projects in Sudan, and explain how you can become involved. We hope you will join the New Sudan Generation in our effort to help the people of Southern Sudan to recover from many years of violence and civil disruption.
We ask you to make a commitment to help us build New Sudan Generation. NSG has no paid staff; all work is done by its board members.

Travel Journal
In spring of 2008, two of our board members, Silvestro Bakhiet and Doug
Merrill, traveled to Southern Sudan to to review the situation on the ground
and seek funds for NSG's current projects.
Doug's journal describes
Southern Sudan as seen through the eyes of an American.
